Alicia CPDT-KA, VSA-CDT

Co-Founder, Dog Trainer & Behavior Consultant

I believe effective training starts with understanding each dog as an individual. My approach is rooted in kindness, patience, and humane, reward-based methods that prioritize each dog’s emotional well-being. I want families to feel supported and empowered as they learn to better understand their dogs, build trust, and develop lasting relationships. To me, training is about more than changing behavior; it’s about helping dogs and their people navigate life together with confidence and understanding.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Getting to know Alicia.

My love for animals has always been a part of who I am. Growing up, I always dreamed of having a dog of my own, and that dream came true when I received my first dog, a chocolate Labrador Retriever, at 11 years old. Having a dog of my own only deepened my love for animals and the special place they hold in our lives.

Years later, Bentley came into my life as an adult and showed me just how deep the bond between a dog and a human can be. Through him, I've experienced the meaning of unconditional love and the incredible connection that develops when we truly understand and trust one another. After spending time in the corporate world, I discovered that my true passion was working with dogs and helping families build stronger relationships with them. What began as a lifelong love for animals has grown into my dream career, allowing me to turn that passion into meaningful work. My education at Penn State University and my commitment to continued learning have also helped shape the perspective I bring to dog training.

Outside of training, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, and making memories with the people closest to me. I feel fortunate to have found a career that aligns with something I've loved my entire life, and I'm excited to continue learning and growing while helping dogs and their families navigate life together.

EXPERIENCE & PHILOSOPHY

What I bring to training.

My professional journey includes graduating from the Victoria Stilwell Academy (VSA-CDT), earning my Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) credential, becoming a Fear Free Certified Trainer, and becoming an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen evaluator. I believe continued education is an important part of being a good trainer, and I'm committed to expanding my knowledge so I can provide thoughtful, effective, and compassionate guidance to the families I work with.

I understand that life with a dog can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also come with challenges. Whether you're working through a difficult behavior, navigating a new stage of your dog's life, or simply hoping to strengthen your relationship, I want you to feel heard, supported, and comfortable asking questions. My goal is to create a judgment-free environment where we can work together to find practical solutions that fit your dog and your family.

Every dog is an individual, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to training. I use humane, reward-based methods that prioritize emotional well-being while helping dogs develop skills that make everyday life easier. I believe that when we take the time to understand what our dogs are communicating, we can approach challenges with greater patience, build confidence, and strengthen the bond we share.

At Clear & Kind Canine, I want every family to feel empowered with the knowledge and tools they need to move forward with their dog. Progress doesn't require perfection; it starts with understanding, consistency, and a willingness to learn together.

KIND WORDS

Kind words from clients.

“Alicia was our dog trainer extraordinaire! Our puppies were essentially feral. They were 6 month old rescues that had never lived indoors. Alicia worked with them at our home. She is so patient and knowledgeable. They are now wonderful dogs that are potty trained, know basic commands, and are great fun to have around! Thank you for everything!”
